ENTERTAINMENT MASTER CLASS: CROWD-SOURCING INNOVATION
Case Study: ‘TV BY THE PEOPLE’ — Mastering TV’s Biggest Brainstorming Exercise
Innovative and fresh show ideas are in high demand – but many may argue that the more risky format business hardly makes it onto the screens or even into the pitching rooms. This is the mould the creators of ‘TV by the People’ wanted to break. In April 2013, Armoza Formats and Screentime Shinawil launched ‘TV by the People’ as the first ever attempt to create and develope a TV show through crowd-sourcing. The first stage saw 1420 registrations and 840 ideas pouring in from all over the world. The winning idea and 500 members moved to a closed Facebook group where the biggest brainstorming in TV history got underway.
Larry Bass, CEO and Founder of Screentime Shinawil and Daniel Ravner, Head of Digital at Armoza Formats and project leader of TVBTP gave an insight into the project and presented valuable lessons learned. The session is hosted by Jacob Houlind, President & CEO, Nordisk Film TV, Denmark. Introduction by Romy Kraus.
