After 10 years as a drummer and percussionist, Alon travelled the East where he met an Israeli veteran stand up artist, Idan Mor, who told him he might be funny – not only to his aging relatives. Once Alon got back to Israel, he started his creative writing career at D-say Interactive, a leading online advertising agency, where in a short time of only 7 months he created 3 heavily covered cross media campaigns – 2 for Bezeq, and one of them, for LG Electronics “My Wife Smashed My TV” winning a Bronze Cactus, at the Israeli Advertising Awards. Continuing his collaboration with Idan, he wrote for the stage show and directed the stirring mockumentary web series, “Gadi Wilcherski”. Then after, Alon decided to quit his day-job, and study directing with acclaimed television drama director, Rani Bleier, who immediately recommended him to even deepen his studies and attend Tel Aviv University to for a full degree of film and television, and so he did.
Since his enrolment, Alon has combined work and studies, arts and entertainment, whenever he could. After directing a few acclaimed shorts, Alon has directed another web series, now a high budget branded entertainment live show, that lasted 4 days which broadcasted on the Keshet web portal, MAKO, for Great Interactive, Saatchi & Saatchi and Unilever. Another year went by, and Alon directed and co-created a pilot of a cultural television documentary, “Sub-Culture”, publicly funded by The Second Authority for Television and Radio. Hosted by veteran culture critic, Rogel Alpher, the show is now in post-production with Matar Productions. As part of his passion to help others in their artistic and creative endeavors, Alon consulted art house & documentary films, the channel 2 prime time game show “Raid the Cage” in its 2nd season, and leading advertising agencies, McCann Erickson, and Gitam BBDO. On the past year, Alon co-created with Oren Gerner, his longtime creative partner, a game show for Comedy Central Israel. Lately, Alon received a scholarship from Terre Di Cinema, an IMAGO sponsored workshop, in Italy, where he focused on directing cinematographers. Now, Alon is on his 3rd year in TAU, finding new sources of inspiration by attending courses in Theater, Philosophy, and Architecture, to spread better stories and ideas on any type of genre and medium.
