Donald Clarke graduated from Rhodes University in South Africa with a Degree in Television Journalism. Starting out as a researcher in youth television, Donald soon evolved into an accomplished director of magazine and entertainment television. This experience coupled with his journalism background was a perfect fit for reality television. Beginning with Project Fame, he soon went on to direct major international formats such as Big Brother Nigeria, Survivor South Africa, So You Think You Can Dance and Fear Factor India. As Creative Consultant on Fear Factor India he helped evolve the format into a celebrity reality competition and became a ratings hit on Indian television.
In 2007 he founded Lucky Bean Productions, which produced for MTV Networks, winning a SAFTA for the MTV Africa Music Awards. In 2009, Lucky Bean was absorbed into Fuel Media of which Donald is now MD/Executive Producer. In this role, Donald has overseen countless innovative television and digital productions including Thumb Wars, Sony Fevacasters and Countdown 2010.
