Håkon has been working in media since the age of 16. He started as a journalist in local newspapers and music weeklies before arriving in Norway’s major culture tabloid Dagbladet at the age of 22. For seven years, he was the papers music journo, writing tons of reviews and columns, and interviewing national and international stars (among them, Mick Jagger, Janet Jackson, Ozzy Osbourne and Kylie Minogue). During this period, Håkon took part in many debates and interviews in radio and TV. He was a regular contributor both in NRKs youth radio P3 and the commercial broadcaster TV2 on music. In 2002, Håkon got the job as Head of music for P3. This gave him the responsibility for playlists and programming at he country’s major pop and rock station, raising the flag for new talent, edgy pop and black metal on the A-list. He took the initiative to different events, among them the live concept ”P3Sessions”. He also worked on NRKs new youth strategy, one of the few areas where NRK had failed as a TV broadcaster during the 2000s.
In 2007, Håkon got the time to write a bestselling biography on Scandinavia’s major Death Punk band Turbonegro. In 2009, he moved on to be Editor for NRK’s Youth Department in Oslo. This gave him the opportunity to implement the Youth strategy. He took the initiative to ”Threesome”, a Public Service concept about sex. The program was a sensation in the fall of 2010, being the years most talked about new TV concept in Norwegian media. ”Threesome” was awarded two prices at”Gullruten” (Norway’s answer to the Emmys) in 2011.
For the last two years, Håkon has been the Head of TV at the Youth Department. Here, his responsibility is to develop and produce new concepts for Net and Television. A new award was collected at Gullruten 2012 for new hit format ”My Celebrity Girlfriend”. For the year 2013, Håkons department will produce four new series for the 15-29-target group.
