Masaki is the Managing Director of AKQA’s Tokyo office. Leading the Tokyo team in their work with clients such as Nike and Nissan, Masaki brings with him more than 14 years’ experience in strategic planning and digital leadership.
Masaki came to AKQA from his role as Head of Brand Strategy, East Asia at Twitter. Before this, he worked at Google Japan as Head of Sales Strategy and Operations, and was General Manager of the iPhone Business Promotion Office at Softbank Mobile. He has thus built an impressive track record in the digital sector.
Earlier in his career, Masaki held various roles in strategic planning: working on the agency side at Hakuhodo and producing multi-award-winning work such as Mazda RX-8 launch campaign.
Masaki earned a PhD from the University of Tokyo and teaches Media and Information Strategy at the Graduate School of Public Policy, Meji University. He is often invited to speak at key industry events such as ad:tech Tokyo and Social Media Week Japan, and has been quoted in numerous publications including Nikkei, Asahi, TechCrunch and CNET.
