Paul Gilbert
Senior Vice President, International Formats of CBS Paramount International Television, USA

In August 2007, Paul Gilbert has been named Senior Vice President, International Formats, CBS Paramount International Television. Gilbert is responsible for the sales, production, acquisitions and development of the library of formats for license outside of the United States. Most recently Gilbert headed up International Program Development and Format Sales for Sony Pictures Television International. In that role, he was responsible for Sony’s catalog of non-scripted formats worldwide which included sales, production, acquisitions and development. He pioneered Sony’s entree into the format business when he started with the company 11 years ago.

Gilbert began his career at Merv Griffin Productions where he worked for 13 years producing many shows including “Wheel of Fortune,” “Jeopardy!” and the classic hit show “Dance Fever.” Gilbert also served as producer of CBS’ “The Pat Sajak Show.” He later worked for Guber/Peters Entertainment, Bob Stewart Productions, Welk Entertainment, and Merrill Heatter Productions where he produced the syndicated game show hit “High Rollers” and the ABC game show “Bargain Hunters.” Gilbert then moved to King World Productions where he headed up international program development, where he was responsible for the local productions including “Wheel of Fortune,” “Jeopardy!,” and “Hollywood Squares.”

He also doubled as a development executive for the U.S. television market. Gilbert is one of the founding members of FRAPA (Format Recognition and Protection Association) and currently serves on its Steering Committee.
