After studying music at Durham and Edinburgh universities Simon spent five years at working at PRS for Music (the UK’s GEMA equivalent). After subsequently managing the copyright department at a Christian printed music and book publisher, Simon joined Audio Network production music library in 2005, overseeing the group’s music publishing activities.
In ten years at Audio Network Simon has helped the business to blossom from a UK-based music library into a global publishing group with nine international offices, direct/sub-publisher representation with over 20 performing rights organisations, and significant year-on-year growth in global publishing revenue. Simon oversees contractual relationships with over 500 composers, looks after the group’s music licensing activities, and has introduced royalty tracking software and bespoke databases to analyse music usage and identify missing royalty revenues.
Simon presents regularly on music rights in the UK and overseas. He is active as a composer member of PRS, and holds a masters degree in musicology and a Ph D in music research. This summer he is due to complete a masters degree in entertainment industry law at London’s Westminster University.
