Tony Gregory is one of Europe’s leading entertainment, event and music television directors. He regularly consults on formats and production workflow; and trains and coaches multi-camera and live directors. TV credits include major shows, concerts and entertainment spectaculars for MTV, PBS, SKY, RTE, BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and numerous titles syndicated worldwide. Event work includes major state, royal and other events. Tony has innovated with constructed reality formats that meld drama and reality. Examples include ‘Space Cadets’, ‘The Verdict’, ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ and TV stunts with illusionist Derren Brown.
Tony started as one of the UK’s youngest producer/reporters. In 1994 he won a place in Granada Television’s coveted training course for multi-camera directors and went on to direct a number of its entertainment and music formats. In 1997 he founded Straight TV in Manchester; turning it into one of the busiest production companies outside London. Tony now specialises as a director of, and creative consultant on, a wide range of entertainment formats, large events and technically demanding live TV output in collaboration with international performing talent, designers and stage directors. Tony has received Royal Television Society awards, and most recently his 2012 Isle of Wight Festival 3D coverage for SKY won ‘best event programme’ from the International 3D Society.
